On November 7-8, 2024, students enrolled in the Bachelor’s Degree program of Ecclesiastical Architecture of the Faculty of Ecclesiastical Architecture, Icon Painting and Restoration of Easel and Monumental Icon Painting at Tbilisi Theological Academy and Seminary visited some of the holy places as part of the traditional educational events.
On November the 7th, the third- and fourth-year students of the Bachelor’s Degree program of Ecclesiastical Architecture, under the guidance of the teachers - Nikoloz Dadiani, Nana Abramia and Maia Chanturia, were in the Monastery of John the Baptist in Koshigora (Hanging Ridges) and the Monastery of Saint Giorgi in Nakulbakevi.
The students studied in detail architecture of modern monasteries built on complex and simple terrain.
On November 8, within the framework of the mentioned event, the second- and third-year students of the Bachelor’s Degree program of Ecclesiastical Architecture were in Mtskheta.
They were guided by the Head of the Department of Ecclesiastical Architecture, Archpriest Besarion Menabde and Doctor of Art History and Theory Ketevan Abashidze.
The teachers gave comprehensive information to the students about the historical, cultural and religious significance of Mtskheta, the architecture and wall paintings of the churches and monasteries.
The students offered prayers in Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, which is the temple dedicated to the Twelve Apostles, and the Cave of Bethlehem, studying carefully the sanctities preserved there.
