Educational and Cognitive Events in Khashuri Municipality
On October 10 of the current year, educational and cognitive activities were carried out in Khashuri municipality by the students of the Faculty of the Seminary. It was a pilgrimage trip planned with the blessing of the Rector of Tbilisi Theological Academy and Seminary, Protopresbyter Giorgi Zviadadze and organized by the Dean of the Seminary, Priest Giorgi Vashalomidze. The students and teachers of TTAS visited Bana, a temple currently under-construction, and Tsromi, a church of the early medieval period (626-635). The foundation of the latter is connected with Stepanoz II, Prince of Kartli.
Father Giorgi Vashalomidze offered a moleben in honour of Saint Razhden the First Martyr (+457) whose martyrdom took place in the village of Tsromi. The choir of the Seminary sang hymns in the process of the service. A theological conference organized by the Dean of the Seminary, Priest Giorgi Vashalomidze and the teachers of TTAS added special significance to the event. The conference was held in Khashuri Vocational College “Kartli” and was attended by students and teachers from Khashuri Public School No.1 and other interested persons, along with the representatives of the local clergymen and members of the monastic order.
The following persons participated in the work of the conference:
Irakli Orzhonia - Doctor of Theology, a teacher of the Old Testament at Tbilisi Theological Academy and Seminary. The topic of his speech was “Symbolism in the Messianic Prophecies of the Old Testament and Ecclesiastical Exegesis of the Reasons for Their Use”.
Giorgi Todua – a doctoral student enrolled in Theology and teacher of the New Testament at TTAS – “An Apostolic Prophecy about the Conversion of Israel – Interpretation of Verses 3 to 4 in Chapter 11 of the Epistle to the Romans”.
Giorgi Metreveli – a doctoral student enrolled in Theology, a teacher of liturgics at TTAS – “A History of How the Date of the Feast of Easter Was Determined”.
Priest Giorgi Vashalomidze – a doctoral student enrolled in Theology, Dean of the Theological Seminary – “Iconography of the Passion of Jesus Christ and Its Theological and Physiological Aspects”.
At the end of the conference, many interesting questions were asked by the audience, which were answered exhaustively by the speakers.
The meaningfully and emotionally significant and busy day ended with a dinner.
