A Moleben Offered to God in Connection with the Beginning
of the New Academic Year
At Tbilisi Theological Academy and Seminary, September 14 is the day of the beginning of the academic year. It coincides with the most important holiday of the Orthodox Church - Indiction or the ecclesiastical New Year.
The Rector of Tbilisi Theological Academy and Seminary, Protopresbyter of the Orthodox Church of Georgia, Giorgi Zviadadze, together with clergy working at the same educational institution and the priests of Sioni Temple, held a prayer service in Sioni Cathedral Temple of the Assumption of the Mother of God.
The choirs of the students of TTAS, conducted by the teachers Lekso Gremelashvili and Lasha Zaalishvili, sang hymns.
The service was attended by the students, professors, teachers and other members of the stuff of TTAS and the community of the faithful.
At the end of the Moleben, the Right Reverend Protopresbyter Giorgi Zviadadze spoke about the mission of TTAS - the foremost theological school. He said that Tbilisi Theological Academy and Seminary is the bosom of synthesis of spiritual vision and science, faith and knowledge. Therefore, the objective of this educational institution is that, along with higher academic knowledge, the students acquire the Christian virtues - humility, honesty, ecclesiastical way of thinking, forgiveness, longsuffering. The unity of knowledge and faith is the unique condition that distinguishes our institution.
The members of the Scientific Council of Tbilisi Theological Academy and Seminary, professors and students are well aware of their deep responsibility before the Catholicos Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II, our Church, society and country, - said the Rector of Tbilisi Theological Academy and Seminary.
Protopresbyter Giorgi Zviadadze congratulated the gathered public on the beginning of the new academic year, blessed the students, professors and teachers of TTAS and wished them a successful and fruitful year.
