Today, June 27, at Tbilisi Theological Academy and Seminary,
the Faculty of Church Architecture, Icon Painting and Restoration

bachelor theses of students majoring in ecclesiastical
architecture.
The following five students of the faculty, Nino Tqhemaladze,

Kukhalashvili presented several projects. The members of the
council were Archprist Ioseb Vanidze, Archpriest Besarion Menabde,
Professor Gvantsa Koplatadze and Professor Murad Tkemaladze. The
defense of the diploma theses was attended by the Vice-rector of

Each of the students presented a project of a
cross-domed temple. Kesane Vezden presented another monastic
complex to the council, the construction of which is planned in
Zemo Svaneti, in the village Becho, adjacent to the Basilica of
Saint George of Skelshi. It should be noted that a project of
a Svan tower is also included in the complex, which will not only
have an ethnographic purpose, but will also be used for daily
life.
In addition to the aforementioned, all five students presented
to the council a joint project, titled “The Socio-Economic Oasis of
Modern Georgia”, a novelty for our country. The project represents
a plan designed for several hectares of land and consists of
residential, educational, agricultural, entertainment and
recreational spaces. The project envisages the living together of
the elderly and young people aged 14-18, where they will have the
opportunity to study, pray, work and exchange experiences.
According to the plan, the project is to be implemented near
the Tserovani settlement of internally displaced people, and its
purpose is, first of all, to ease the living conditions of these
people. Here, elderly people will pass on their experience to young
ones and build a farm together with them.
The supervisors of the projects were Doctor of Architecture,
Professor Medea Melkadze and the teacher of Church Architecture
Natela Abramia. The students earned high scores in their
projects.
