Visit of the Representatives of Tbilisi Theological Academy and
Seminary to Sweden
On June 3-7,
Vice-Rector of Tbilisi Theological Academy and Seminary for the
Educational and Administrative Fields, Doctor of History,
Archpriest Besarion Tsintsadze, Head of the Department of
International Relations of the Office of Public Relations and
Strategic Communications, Doctor of Philology Lali Khuchua and
Coordinator of the Erasmus+ program Elisabed Abuladze visited Saint
Ignatius the God-bearer Higher Theological School in
Stockholm.
Within the framework of the visit, the representatives of TTAS held meetings with the Rector of Stockholm Higher Theological School, Professor Michael Hjälm, Vice-Rector Archpriest Serafrim Smensgård, Head of the Service of Quality Management of the school, Miriam Hjälm, Archpriest Milutin Janjik, Head of the Department of Byzantine Studies and other employees and students.
During the meetings, the parties planned the future steps of contacts between the two higher education institutions, discussed the text of the memorandum of cooperation and its individual articles.
The Rector of Saint Ignatius the God-Bearer Higher Theological School, Professor Michael Hjälm expressed great respect for the Georgian people, the Church of Georgia and the Catholicos Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II and noted that cooperation with Tbilisi Theological Academy and Seminary is important for them in many ways which are based on the ancient traditions of theological education in Georgia. Michael Hjälm also expressed his deep respect for the Rector of TTAS, Protopresbyter Giorgi Zviadadze, and with deep gratitude recalled his meeting with him in Tbilisi.
The Vice-Rector of TTAS, Archpriest Besarion Tsintsadze thanked the hosts for their warm welcome and sharing their experiences and noted that the cooperation between the two Orthodox schools was being carried out with the blessing of the Catholicos Patriarch of All Georgia and the mentioned cooperation, scientific publications, conferences would be useful for both parties.
At the end of the meetings, on behalf of Tbilisi Theological Academy and Seminary and its Rector, Protopresbyter Giorgi Zviadadze, Archpriest Besarion presented an icon of the All-Holy Mother of God of Iberia to the Higher School of Ignatius the God-Bearer.
Within the framework of the visit to Stockholm, the representatives of TTAS met with the parish of Saint George Church. They were hosted by Archpriest Nikoloz Gubaev.
