Students on the Holy Mount Athos
The Dean of the Faculty of Theology (Seminary) of Tbilisi Theological Academy and Seminary, Priest Giorgi Vashalomidze and the third-year students enrolled in the Bachelor’s degree program of Theology, Davit Ghirsiashvili, Luka Simonishvili, Gabriel Navrozashvili, Mikheil Nuroshvili and Shalva Ghvamberia, have lately been to the Holy Mount of Athos. Together with Father Giorgi, the students visited the churches and monasteries of the Holy Mountain and venerated many sanctities.
Especially exciting for the pilgrims was a visit to the Iveron Monastery where they venerated the icon of the Mother of God of Iberia and got acquainted with the heritage of the holy Fathers - Ioane, Euthymius and Giorgi the Athonites. Together with the students, Father Giorgi read and remembered important episodes from the books describing the lives of these holy fathers, and the path and ethos of the labour of the great Georgian Athonite fathers became even clearer, more visible and emotionally expressive for the students.
Finally, the pilgrims visited the Georgian skete dedicated to John the Evangelist. The Dean of Tbilisi Theological Seminary, Father Giorgi Vashalomidze and his students, together with the Georgian monks, who are living and fulfilling their labour in the monastery, celebrated a Holy Liturgy in Georgian.
