The Students of the Seminary at the Monastery of Shiomghvime

On February 20 of the current year, at the initiative of the Department of Liturgics and with the support of the Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Seminary, the third-year students of the Theological Seminary visited the Shiomghvime Monastery.

They were guided by the teacher of liturgy, Giorgi Metreveli. After touring the monastery complex, praying there, and venerating the relics preserved in the monasterey, including the holy relics of the venerable Father Shio Mghvimeli, Mr. Giorgi Metreveli gave a lecture to the students. He spoke in detail about the history of the Shiomghvime Monastery, its cultural and educational significance, the monks working there and the oldest typicon of the monastery.

Visiting our cultural heritage, including churches and monasteries and offering prayers there, getting to know and viewing and studying their history, architecture and wall-paintings on-site is an integral part of the educational process at Tbilisi Theological Academy and Seminary.

The day spent at the Shiomghvime Monastery was both important cognitively and beneficial spiritually for the students.
