A Public Lecture

On November 11 of the current year, a meeting was held at Tbilisi Theological Academy and Seminary with Doctor of Philology Ramaz Khalvashi, Professor in Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University. The topic of his talk was The Life and Work of Saint Tbeli Abuserisdze. Mr. Ramaz spoke about the great Georgian writer of the 13th century - Saint Tbeli Abuserisdze’s ecclesiastical, public, scientific, pedagogical and literary activity. He discussed the author’s creative legacy in relation to the rich Georgian literary heritage (exegetics, hagiography, historiography, homiletics, liturgics, dogmatics, polemics, the study of the paschal chronicles). The speaker reviewed Saint Tbeli Abuserisdze’s all five works preserved in his authorized manuscript, namely: The hagiographical work “Miracles Worked by Holy and Great Martyr Giorgi”, the hagiographical trilogy “Hymns of the Three Ioanes”, “Hymns of the Condemnation of Heretics”, “Hymns Dedicated to the Holy Mother of God”, the Paschal work “A Complete Chronology with Its Informative Part”.

Teachers, students and other persons interested in the topic attended the lecture.

At the end of the lecture, Dr. Ramaz Khalvashi comprehensively answered the questions put to him by the listeners.
